days a week between 2 and 5 pm. There is no jumping or diving into the
pool. There is no food on the deck by the pool; food can be enjoyed on
the upper deck only. The pool hours are 10 to 10 daily except Sunday’s

please review the rules for a safe and fun summer for all!

Ponderings From the Manager
Some of you have received quotes from either Concrete Levelers or DCAM,
Inc. for either concrete lifting or replacement. We have asked these two
contractors to give the best cost to you since multiple jobs will be done.
It is imperative that you contact the Clubhouse office by July 9th to let
us know if you want to accept this bid and have the work done. A check
payable to the company offering the quote needs to be delivered to the
Clubhouse office before the work is completed. If you have questions
regarding the quote, feel free to give a call to the contractor. If you
are not interested in this bid, please let us know that as well. The work
does need to be completed otherwise you will be in violation of the
Association By-laws. Be sure to get in contact with us and let us know
your plan!
Did you know that most of your questions can be answered by looking at
your Resident Handbook? We will be in the process of updating that
Handbook over the next couple of months. Next time you have a question
regarding Architectural concerns or Clubhouse usage, look at that
handbook! Of course, you can call us at the Clubhouse and we’ll be happy
to help you as well!
There were some questions around Memorial Day about garbage pick-up and
whether there would be a delay (as we experienced) because of the holiday.
Allied Waste has provided the following policy: “If a holiday falls on a
week day, the garbage pick-up will be most very likely be delayed one day.
If the holiday falls on a weekend day, there will be no change in the
pick-up schedule.” However, they also state that if garbage pick-up is at
the end of the week and they are able to “catch-up” with their scheduling,
it very well could be picked up as scheduled. SOOO .. What does that mean?
It means it’s better to safe than sorry! Although we know it isn’t
pleasant having the garbage at the curb for 24 hours; sometimes (as it was
in May), it’s necessary! It doesn’t happen very often throughout the year;
we just need to be cooperative and do our best!
Have you been in the library lately? We have received a couple concerns
about the lighting in the library. We are now using energy saving bulbs
which take a minute or so to warm up before the light is bright. Be
assured they are the correct wattage for the fixtures and just be a little
patient! We are doing our best in trying to conserve energy costs!
Did you all read the newest information from Auburn Hills on watering?
Although we can not participate in the watering days as they suggest, we
can comply with changing our water scheduling to occur between 12:00 -
6:00 am. Remember that you don’t want to water the day of cutting, but if
you are watering this early, you could schedule your system for the day
before. Let’s all do our part in trying to keep the water costs down and
affordable!
Although the Pool Rules were not re-distributed this year, they are
included again in this issue of the newsletter. The Pool Operators are
finding that many violations are occurring. Kids Swim Time is daily, 7
days a week, between 2:00 - 5:00 pm. While at the pool, there is
absolutely no jumping into the water or diving. It is your responsibility
to watch your own children while at the pool and stop these actions when
they occur. There is no eating on the lower deck by the pool; although you
can eat on the upper deck of the pool. There is NO GLASS permitted in the
pool area. Swim diapers are allowed in the pool, however, please change
the child in the restrooms in the Clubhouse and not at the pool side. A
changer table is available in the Ladies Restroom. We are also having a
problem in the Men’s Restroom with the urinals. PLEASE FLUSH THEM! Not
doing so causes an odor! Although the Pool Rules have not changed this
year, please review them once again so you become familiar with the rules.
Remember, we do not have a life guard on duty nor do we have anyone
assigned to make sure the Pool Rules are followed. This is YOUR
responsibility as a homeowner. Violations will be given if the rules are
not followed. The violation might mean you will not be able to visit the
pool for a specified time. If you have any questions regarding the Pool
Rules or pool usage, please don’t hesitate to call us at the Clubhouse
office! Let’s keep the pool a safe and fun place for all!
Remember the song lyrics, “when you make a wish upon a falling star, all
your dreams will come true …” from Disney’s Pinocchio? This may not be
true, but watching falling stars (meteor showers) is a childhood memory
that many of us might remember. There are still four opportunities
remaining in 2010 to view meteor showers: the nights of August 12, October
21, November 17, and December 13. October 21 may not be the best viewing
night due to an almost full moon, so only the brightest meteors will be
seen. But the one in August will be upon us soon! Don’t miss it! Get out
in the night with your grandkids and make those memories!
A couple residents have asked me about the possibility of beginning a
Heritage Players group. This would be people who are interested in being
in simple plays and then performing them at the Clubhouse for everyone.
This is a great idea! I would like to see if there is interest! If you
would like to participate in something like this, talk to me at the
Clubhouse or sign-up in the book in the lobby. Wouldn’t this be fun? Don’t
necessarily have to memorize lines; cheat sheets will be acceptable. Let
us know and we’ll start some planning if we have enough interest! Hope to
see you at one of the fun events upcoming at the Clubhouse! Hope you plan
on joining us! Happy Summer to All! See you at the Pool!

(From the May, 2010 Board of Directors Meetings)
To increase communications about Board activities we are
placing a brief overview of some of the topics discussed at each month’s
Board meeting in the Monthly newsletter. Here are some topics from April.
ASSOCIATION NEWS
Because of recent acts of vandalism throughout the community and at the
suggestion of the Auburn
Police Department, the Board received a proposal to have security cameras
installed at various locations in and around the clubhouse. The Board
approved this proposal and security cameras are being installed. This is
being done for safety and liability protection for the Association. The
Board also approved a proposal to have the following items repainted: the
white street signs throughout the community, bases of all street lights,
trim board on guard lift gates and entry doors and the gazebo.
Also approved was the hiring of a surveyor to define our property lines at
the east side of our community between Heritage and the Rochester Hills
subdivision to the east. Several of our neighbors have been
extending their lot lines onto our property.
FINANCIAL NEWS
Treasurer Larry DeRonne reported that we are well within budget at this
time. Also, we have received a favorable report from our auditors.
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
Residents who need to have their sidewalks leveled or replaced will
receive a letter from our manager
indicating the procedures to be followed. If all residents use the same
contractor they will receive better pricing.
We have contracted with our landscaper to replace several dead trees on
the hill along Tienken. These trees will be replaced with assorted
varieties to add fall color. The sycamore trees in the open area on
Hillsdale at the end of Crestwood will be removed and a new planting area
with one Copper Beach and three Sugar Maples will be added. We will also
be adding seedlings in several common areas throughout the community.
ARC UPDATES & REMINDERS TO ALL HOMEOWNERS
-
Trim bushes around garage lights and automatic garage light
sensor on the side of your home.
-
Make sure garage carriage lights are in working order.
Replace burnt out garage lights.
-
Kill weeds in sidewalks and driveway cracks. Miller
Landscape will do this for you at $10 per property. Call Miller
Landscape direct to schedule this work to be done.
-
Make certain sprinklers are turned on, adjusted for proper
coverage and set watering days so not to conflict with the lawn
cutting schedule. Consider watering between 12:00 midnight and 6:00 am
per Auburn Hills watering saving cost suggestion.
-
Elevate property trees, especially sidewalk trees. This is
the homeowners responsibility. You can trim them yourself or Miller
Landscape will do the job for you at $25 for Maple trees and $35 for
Bradford Pear trees. Call Miller Landscape direct to schedule them to
do the work.
