Special
Recognition To Our Residents:
- Every month there are lots of volunteers that help
prepare the newsletter for delivery. We have those that come in and fold
and prepare the newsletters for delivery. They then count them out for
the carriers to come in and pick them up. Then we have the newsletter
carriers that are out in all kinds of weather to deliver the newsletter
to your mailbox! These are dedicated people who continue to do this task
every month. A very warm and heartfelt thanks to them for their
continued support and work! We truly appreciate you all!
- In February we had the Meatloaf Extravaganza Social.
It was overwhelmingly received! The meatloafs were made by Marian
Hansen, Linda Foltz, Suzie Foltz, Marilyn Aldinger, Nancy Bell and Terri
Ricketts. Each one was
delicious! The salads and desserts brought by everyone in
attendance sure made for a delicious dinner! Along with the
potatoes, green beans and rolls; it was quite a great event! Sorry to
all those that missed it! A special thanks to everyone who helped clean
up following dinner. The many hands made the task much easier! Hope
everyone comes in March to the Baked Potato Bar St. Patty’s Day
Celebration. Seeing it was so successful in February, we are going to
try it again! Hope everyone comes for the great food and fun!

U.S. CENSUS 2010 - IN THE KNOW ...
Soon you will receive your U.S. Census forms at your home address. These
forms will not be forwarded to your temporary address if you are away
from the State of Michigan. We need you to be counted here in Michigan!
The official residence rules for the census state that “snowbirds”
should be “counted at the residence where they live most of the year.”
For example, people who spend seven months in Michigan and five months
in Florida should be counted only in Michigan, even if they are in
Florida on census day. Most of Michigan’s snowbirds - people who spend
more than six months in their Michigan home should: enter a zero for the
number of people living at their Sunbelt address; leave the rest of
their Sunbelt census form blank and wait until they get back to their
usual residence in Michigan to fill out the census form that was
delivered there.
The following information was in the Parade Magazine on February 21,
2010:The 2010 Census will cost an estimated $14 BILLION. It costs
between $65 and $75 to tally unresponsive households. With foreclosures,
empty homes and an estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants, it gets
more complicated and more expensive. “This year the price of the Census
is in the hands of the American people” says Robert Groves, director of
the Census Bureau. Do your part and do it right! For more information go
to
http://2010.census.gov.

Ponderings From the Manager
Whew! Let’s say goodbye to February with pleasure! Wasn’t that the longest
short month ever?! It’s refreshing to see the longer days though, isn’t
it? And the songs of the birds as you linger outside. Spring must be on
it’s way! I know that summer will be here before we know it. I’m already
scheduling the opening of the pool and spa! Now, isn’t that a wonderful
thing?! Before we know it that will be happening and this winter will just
be a memory!
As the snow melts away you will be noticing some damage done by the plows
this winter. We will be asking you to call the clubhouse and report these
damages as you see them beginning in April. Miller will be responsible for
fixing these damages and once called into the office, they will be
forwarded on to them! Please don’t remove the orange/green sticks marking
locations for snow removal. Miller will be collecting these and reusing
them year after year. They will not remove them until they are sure of no
more snow fall! If you are planning ahead for Spring and getting
estimates, please keep Miller in mind for your outside needs. Feel free to
give them a call and get an estimate from them while you are shopping
around.
Last year about this time I shared The Golden Rules for Living. I am going
to repeat them again for when you are in and around the Clubhouse.
Actually these are good rules for living your life; not just at the
Clubhouse! We still have problems with people being in the Clubhouse after
hours and leaving lights on! If you are the last one here, you must
remember to shut the lights off! Here are the golden rules. “If you open
it, close it. If you turn it on, turn it off. If you unlock it, lock it
up. If you break it, admit it. If you can’t fix it, call someone who can.
If you borrow it, return it. If you value it, take care of it. If you make
a mess, clean it up. If you move it, put it back. If it belongs to someone
else and you want to borrow it, ask permission. If you don’t know how to
operate it, let it alone. If it’s none of your business, don’t ask
questions. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! If it will brighten someone’s
day, say it. If it will tarnish
someone’s reputation, keep it to yourself and don’t repeat it!” Thank you!
Just a reminder that if Rochester and Avondale Schools are closed for
inclement weather, the exercise classes are automatically cancelled for
the day. Any activities scheduled will be determined and updated messages
regarding their occurrence will be left on the voice mail at the
Clubhouse.
We have some fun-filled activities for you in March! Of course we
celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this month and also the beginning of Spring!
Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead on the 14th! This is good time to
also change the batteries in your electronics at home. Change your
batteries in your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and other
electronic devices. Then you’ll know they are good for a year; or until
the next time change in the fall! Check out the Cherish The Ladies with
the DSO to get into the Irish holiday. Then we have Shamrock Bunko on
Friday, March 19th with St Patty’s Celebration Social on Saturday, March
20th. The social will be a Baked Potato Bar. There will be all kinds of
fixin’s for you to dress your potato and enjoy! Bring a salad or dessert
to share. The cost is just $3/person. We had a great time at the Meatloaf
Extravaganza in February; let’s repeat it and have a great time in March!
Lots of neat bus trips and theatre events planned; be sure to take a look
into them later in the newsletter.
Enjoy the season as it begins to change!
Erin Go Braugh!

(From the February, 2009 Board of Directors Meetings)
To increase communications about Board activities we are placing a brief
overview of some of the topics
discussed at each month’s Board meeting in the Monthly newsletter. Here
are some topics from last month:
ASSOCIATION NEWS:
- The thresholds at the front doors need to be improved
now. Karen will get proposals from two individuals so the work can be
completed in a timely manner.
- The need for repairs to our roads was discussed. It
was decided that we should explore getting bids for the work in the
Spring. Nothing will be decided until the full Board is in attendance in
the Spring.
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE:
Tree cuttings throughout the community have been completed.
A walk through to determine further needs will be completed in the Spring
by Bob Luttermoser, Ken Marzorati and the company that has been doing the
cuttings currently.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Larry DeRonne reported that we finished the 2009 year in
the black.
