RESIDENTS SENDING SPECIAL THANK YOUS:
- Jo McDonald shares: “Dear Friends & Neighbors: Many
thanks for the lovely basket of flowers! I am doing well now, and
certainly appreciate your thoughtfulness. Happy springtime to all!”
- Dottie Buran writes: “I want to thank our Heritage
friends once again for their kind thoughts, calls, cards, food and
beautiful floral arrangement during my recent hospitalization for a
blood clot in my lungs. This will keep me on Coumadin for the next six
months. Although I did have a chance to check out the new luxurious WB
Ford Hospital, I prefer our home in Heritage. Also, I want to assure
you that Tom and I are not running a contest to see which family can
receive the most floral arrangements in a year! As one dear person
said, I don’t need to keep having medical problems to get attention!”
- Georgena Reda shares: A special thank you to
everyone for thoughts and for flowers after my recent surgery. A
special thanks to Robert at the gate for holding the flowers for me
too! Special thanks to the Red Hats and to Willie for putting me in
their prayers. A special thanks to everyone!
- From the Family of Maria Fejer: “Dear Heritage in
the Hills Friends: Words cannot express the gratitude of love and
kindness Heritage has always shown my mother. It is great comfort to
have friends and family support us during our waves of sadness. We are
so thankful for the wonderful memories we have of my mother. She loved
her walks with Halyva; waving and talking to neighbors. Thank you for
the lovely flowers. It was so thoughtful of you. Thank you for your
thoughts, prayers and friendship.”
- Rose Govig fondly writres: Dear Friends at Heritage
in the Hills: God’s hand was guiding us when Gerry and I chose this
community in which to live. It is a place of kind, thoughtful, caring
neighbors that made this last month easier to bear. Thank you for the
cards, flowers, food and good wishes.”
- Norm Cloyd shares: A very special thanks for all
the prayers, well wishes, cards and flowers for my recent hospital
stay and surgery. I am doing much better thanks to all your blessings!
We live in a great community! Thank you again!

TO STEP OR NOT TO STEP?
Do you own an “Original Health STEP” that you’re not
using? If so, the exercise group could make use of it and would
appreciate your donation. In case you’re not sure if a STEP-like-product
you might have is the brand we are interested in, they are usually a
light green with a black non-slip surface on the top, measure 43”L X
16”W X 4”H, and include pink or gray 16 by 16 inch square blocks that
raise the STEP height from 4” high to 6” or 8” using one or two when
mounted under both ends. Several other similar brands are slippery and
narrower, and are not desired. Call Don Cassidy (364-4557) and he’ll
confirm yours are the ones we’d like and pick them up! Thank you! If you
aren’t using them, we can!

Ponderings From the Manager
Ah, the aroma of spring is upon us! What a busy time it has been in this
community! It is looking awesome, isn’t it? The pool and spa is open and
functioning beautifully. Even if you don’t swim, sure hope you come down
and appreciate the beautiful atmosphere of the pool area. All the work
that has been done at the poolside sure is welcoming! The tennis courts
are being resurfaced and will be done by the first week of June. So much
going on just to keep the community as beautiful as ever! Take a look
around and appreciate the beauty!
Speaking of the pool, it is imperative that you pick-up your Pool Rules
Booklet if you haven’t done so already; especially prior to coming to the
pool. The booklet can be picked up in the Clubhouse office. If you come to
the pool area without first getting your Pool Rules Booklet, you will be
asked to come in and get it before you do any swimming. Once again, we
highly encourage you take the time to read this booklet to become familiar
with the rules at the pool. This is solely for your health and safety!
Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated! In
addition, back in the March Heritage Headlines was a new Homeowners
Information form which also needs immediate attention in completing and
returning to the Clubhouse office. This information is necessary for means
to contact you or your emergency contact in an emergency situation. PLEASE
be attentive to this matter and get those completed forms to us as soon as
possible. If you need a form, they are available in the office. Next month
you will be asked to complete a new Visitor List form so that your visitor
cards can be updated at the gate house. Some of the visitor cards are in
dire need of updating. This is a simple way of keeping our community safe
and secure!
Just a reminder that trash pick-up is now on Thursday. There has been some
concern about the time trash can be put to the curb on Wednesday evening.
Just be kind and don’t put the trash out too early on Wednesday! We
understand if you require help in this area and have someone to do it
prior to dark, it will be acceptable. Remember that Miller Landscape picks
up yard waste on Wednesday and this must at your curb by 10:00 am. Yard
waste must be in brown paper bags and must only include yard waste, not
other garbage. Your attention to these dates and times would be greatly
appreciated by all!
Mike from Miller Landscape has asked that if you would like work done at
your home that you call Miller Landscape direct rather than stop him while
he’s cutting or working in the community. He doesn’t always have the means
to jot a note to himself if he’s busy working and he is fearful of
forgetting! If you call Miller direct, he will receive the message and
then stop by to see you to discuss your needs. You can call Miller at
248-391-6113.
In this newsletter you will find many bus trips and events of interest.
Please pay attention to the sign-up dates and do your best at signing up
on time. We understand that often schedules change for one reason or the
other, but if you hesitate it may make the difference of cancelling the
event! There are many offerings, so please take the time to see the fun
that is offered! There are more events at the poolside and more events
that invite your grandchildren! Study the calendar and for more
information on a specific event look in the Events or Bus Trips for the
month further back in the newsletter. If you have questions, never
hesitate to give us a call in the office.
Several times in the winter months under my article, I included a small
“seeds for thought” or a funny article. I received many comments from
residents that they enjoyed this addition. With that thought, I will
conclude this article with this heartwarming story. Just remember that
just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to, doesn’t
mean they don’t love you with all they have!
THE LOVE STORY OF RALPH AND EDNA
Ralph and Edna were both patients in a
mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital
swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the
bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him.
She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse became
aware of Edna’s heroic act, she immediately ordered her to be discharged
from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When
she went to tell Edna the news she said, “Edna, I have good news and bad
news. The good news is you’re being discharged since you were able to
rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the
person you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness.
The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt
right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he is dead.”
Edna quickly replied, ‘He didn’t hang himself! I put him there to dry. How
soon can I go home?’
HOPE YOUR SMILING! HAPPY SUMMER TO EVERYONE .. GET OUT AND SMELL THE
ROSES!

(From the May, 2009 Board of Directors Meetings)
To increase communications about Board activities we are placing a brief
overview of some of the
topics discussed at each month’s Board meeting in the Monthly newsletter.
Here are some topics from last month:
ASSOCIATION NEWS:
We have several projects underway or recently completed at
the clubhouse and on the property.
-
The Board approved the purchase of new desks for the
office. The present desk will be moved upstairs where it can be
utilized. The built-in cabinets and shelves will be re-worked to make
room for a second desk. One cabinet will be moved into the craft room.
-
The Board approved construction of a book case for the
library. This unit will match the present shelving and should ease our
over-flow situation.
-
We received a bid to replace the wood trim around the
dormers on the clubhouse with aluminum. The Board voted to proceed with
this project. The aluminum will eliminate the need for maintenance of
these dormers.
-
The Board approved a bid for resurfacing of the tennis
courts. Both courts will be striped for pickle ball use at this time.
The striping will not interfere with the use of the courts for tennis.
-
The swimming pool cover has disintegrated after ten years’
of use. We will purchase a new pool cover to be installed when the pool
is closed in the fall. The new cover will have a built-in anchoring
system which should help to protect the pool over the winter months.
-
Other maintenance issues that have been completed:
-
Stone ground cover has been added around the pool deck.
-
New water heater for the kitchen.
-
Annual test for clubhouse fire suppression system
-
Batteries replaced in Emergency/Exit lights
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Treasurer Larry DeRonne reported that all areas of the
budget are on track at this time.
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
Bernie Ris and Bob Luttermoser will be inspecting the common areas for
downed trees. Several trees came down as a result of recent violent
windstorms.
