Special Recognition To Our Residents:
  • Last month we had a fun Italian Social evening. We had a delicious spaghetti dinner prepared by Catering by

If you have experienced any damage to trees on your property due to the recent storms and want to have a fallen tree taken away or a tree cut down; call the office and let us know and we may be able to help you! We will be having a contractor come in to do some work on common properties and will send them your way to help you! They will give you an estimate and then you can decide if you’d like to hire the work done. The cost is your responsibility. Remember, if you are cutting down a tree you must have an Architectural Application completed prior to the work. We will be completing this work quickly, so call the office by May 10th if you are interested in getting a bid from our contractor. Thank you!

LIBRARY GUIDELINES

The Library Committee would like to thank everyone for continuing to use the basket to return books after reading and donating new books. Because of limited space we do need to establish some guidelines for those donating books. We are happy to receive current fiction and non-fiction books. Paperback books should be in good condition. We cannot accept textbooks, children’s books, books of a religious
nature and medical books. We are in the process of purchasing an additional book case and we will then separate the hardcover fiction from the paper books to make the library even easier to use.

Ponderings From the Manager

Miller Landscape has already been busy in the community and the look of spring is awesome! Please remember when putting your yard waste out on Wednesdays that it needs to be by the curb by 10:00 am. DO NOT put anything but yard waste in these bags! PLEASE! This includes the plastic potting pots that plants come in. Those need to be separated and put into your recycle bin. Grass cutting will begin the first week of May. In the April newsletter you may have seen that grass cutting was to begin the 3rd week. Per the contract we have 28 cuttings. If we begin earlier, it means we don’t have enough cuttings at the end of the season. The end of the season cuttings also include fall clean-ups so we are further ahead the later we can start cutting. We haven’t felt like the grass was ready for cutting, so the first week of May was an agreement!

With Memorial Day weekend happening this month, it also means the opening of the pool! We will be working to have it ready for opening on Saturday, May 23rd at 10:00 am. A Pool Rules booklet is being prepared for each home. The information contained in this booklet will include Pool Rules, Emergency Plans, helpful reminders and Pool Operator contacts. Because this is such important information that everyone should read yearly, we are asking that you come to the Clubhouse to pick up your copy of the booklet prior to using the pool. The booklets will be available in the office beginning Monday, May 11th. We will record that you have indeed picked up your book. You will not be allowed to swim unless you’ve picked up your copy of this booklet. We strongly urge you to read and become familiar with all the information that is included in this helpful booklet. It is for the health and safety of you and of the
Association! If you have any questions once you receive your booklet, please do not hesitate to call one of your Pool Operators!

I am inviting you all to become involved in planning events for the community. There will be a committee that will be planning a Heritage Anniversary Bash in September. A couple people have already volunteered for this committee. Planning meetings will begin soon. There will also be a committee that will be planning the 2009 New Years Eve Party at the Clubhouse. Those meeting will begin toward the end of the summer. If you are interested in joining either committee, please sign up in the book in the lobby or talk to Terri or me in the office.

I am excited to announce that we will have a Craft Show at the Clubhouse on October 4th, 2009. This craft show will be BY and FOR residents of Heritage. This means if you have a craft or hobby you make and would like to sell to residents, this is your opportunity! All you need do is reserve a table area. There is no cost for displaying your items, no cost for “renting” space and no cost for admission. Our Annual Flu Shot Clinic will be occurring at the same time which we hope will draw the people into this area to stop in and shop! Mark your calendars today and begin making your goods to sell!

On Thursday, June 25th we will be offering an AED CPR class at the Clubhouse. The Auburn Hills Fire Department is teaching the class. Class size is limited to 10. Although we have several people already signed up for the class (staff included), we will have a couple available spots. If you are interested in taking this class, please let me know in the office. The class price is $35 per person.

Andrew Moll, a student at the University of Michigan stopped by to introduce himself. He is a Branch Manager for Student Painters and is running an exterior painting business in the area. He will come to your home and give you a written estimate. Get an outstanding job for a very reasonable price. If interested, call Andrew at248-872-5149. Feel welcome to see work done at Eydie Yemmons!

As the weather is becoming more tolerable, it brings more of you out in the neighborhood and at the Clubhouse. Please remember that children are not allowed in the Exercise Room. We keep the exercise equipment in good operating order and want to keep it available for all residents. This is not a play area! Lots of new and exciting things happening in the exercise program. Watch the upcoming newsletters for new classes and ideas that will be blooming! While you are out for a walk, walking the dog, or just out getting some fresh air; stop by the Clubhouse and say hello! Happy Spring to All! Let the SUN shine!

THE RED HAT HOT HONEYS HAPPENINGS

The Red Hat annual meeting was held on Monday. April 20th. To end our lunch on a sweet note, Willie Swayze baked and decorated a wonderful cake for dessert. Also, I moved up to Queen Mom. Karen Bishop volunteered to be our Vice Mom. Thank you very much! It was decided at the meeting, that unless someone had an idea and wanted to schedule an event, we will not have an outing during the months November through March. I passed around an e-mail address list in order to create a membership master list. It would be appreciated if you would either e-mail me at
gerrimolnar@sbcglobal.net or call me at 248-475-9713 to add information to the list.

We need volunteers for events during May, July, August, September and October. I will leave a list of outing suggestions from the meeting at the Clubhouse, along with a sign-up sheet. Sylvia Imbrunnone and Kathy Mischley are planning a tour of Berloni Italian-made kitchens and furnishings with a lunch to follow during the second week of June. Watch for the announcement at the Clubhouse.
Happy Spring, Gerri Molnar.

(From the April, 2009 Board of Directors Meetings)

To increase communications about Board activities we are placing a brief overview of some of the
topics discussed at each month’s Board meeting in the Monthly newsletter. Here are some topics from last month:

ASSOCIATION NEWS:
  1. The Board previously reported that we were investigating new gates for the front entrance. Since repairing the electrical problem has corrected the problems we were having, we are placing this project on hold for the present time.

  2. We are taking bids for the re-surfacing of the tennis courts. Pickle ball stripes will be added to one of the courts; however, this will not affect use of the courts for tennis play.

  3. The Board voted to replace the kitchen flooring with ceramic tile. This will necessitate closing the kitchen for a day or two but we are confident the inconvenience will be worthwhile. We are also doing repair work on the wood overhangs in the front of the Clubhouse and painting in this area and structures around the pool.
Keeping our community looking attractive will benefit us all.

  4. Theft continues to be a problem in the clubhouse. Several items were taken over the last several months. The Board is determined to eliminate this problem and voted unanimously to investigate video surveillance in select areas inside and outside the Clubhouse. Obviously, this behavior is a cost to us all. Our legal counsel has advised that all items in the Clubhouse are Association owned. In other words, they are
“common” property, not resident property. Items taken from the Clubhouse without authorization is common theft. Evidence of anyone stealing will be turned over to the Auburn Hills Police and a complaint will be filed. Regarding other infractions against the by-laws of our Association, the Board will levy fines according to our written guidelines.

  5. Our lawsuit is with the Court of Appeals and we are waiting the scheduling of oral arguments.

MANAGER’S REPORT:

We have a new exercise instructor and our residents who are attending her classes are very pleased. Watch for new classes and programs to be added in the future.

Miller Landscape has begun their spring clean-up and the community is looking great. Also, the Board
authorized Miller to re-mulch all the trees in the common area along Heritage Drive.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Budget performance has been excellent for the first quarter.
