Special
Recognition To Our Residents:
- Hope you have all had the opportunity to come into
the Clubhouse to check out our new dining room chairs. They are
beautiful! After our St. Patrick’s Day luncheon, we added new
tablecloths to the tables. Aren’t they just perfect? A special thanks to
Ann Moran for shopping, choosing, ordering and delivering these
tablecloths! She brought in several choices and we decided on her
favorite, the ones you see on the tables. It sure brightens up the
dining room and looks totally awesome! Thank you for your fine
selection, once again! Sure appreciate your keen eye and great choices
plus all your work in getting them to us! Thanks so much! When you see
Ann be sure to thank her!
- In March we had our annual St. Patrick’s Day
luncheon. The food was outstanding as usual, thanks to Catering by
Katherine. Ah, the sweet memory! A special thanks to Domenick Ferranti
who worked very hard in cleaning up after the luncheon. We certainly
appreciate all the help you are Domenick! Thanks, Rose, for letting us
borrow him for awhile! He sure helped make the job a lot easier!
- Each month there are people who gather at the
Clubhouse to fold and prepare the newsletter for delivery. Then there
are about 20 people who deliver them to your door! A special thanks to
these behind the scenes workers. We sure appreciate your dedication and
hard work each month!!

RESIDENTS SENDING SPECIAL THANK YOUS:
- Nelson Phillips writes: “It was with a great relief
when Jan drove me through the gate on 3/3/09, after a month at
Beaumont, R.O. I received many, many cards and good wishes and prayers
from so many of you. That and the constant vigilance of my wonderful
wife got me through some rough times. The flowers brightened my short
stay on floor 5, before they shipped me back to ICU - then they were
here in our home. Thank you friends and neighbors for all the above as
well as for some chicken soup, apples, pears and pineapple. I’ll be
seeing some of you as I ride the NU-Step machine on the road to
recovery. Thank you!”
- Claire Emmons shares: “Dear Heritage Hills Friends:
Thank you very much for the beautiful flowers and gifts. I have really
appreciated all the cards, phone calls, mail and newspaper pick-up,
visits and food. Its nice to know the outside world exists when your
stuck in the house. I am always amazed how wonderful living in
Heritage is and how caring all the people are in this community.”
- Doris Schieman writes: “A little note to say
thanks, and thanks again! Your gift basket of spring flowers is a
delight to behold. It is truly appreciated! Thank you to all!”
- A THANK YOU FROM GILDA’S CLUB OF METRO DETROIT
Dear Heritage Hills Sewing Group, Thank you for your generous donation

KUNDALINI YOGA: A DIRECT EXPERIENCE OF YOUR
DIVINITY
Describing Kundalini Yoga to someone not familiar with
it is difficult because it is nearly impossible to encompass the
magnitude of this system in one succinct statement. If I tried, however,
I’d say in Kundalini Yoga, the bottom line is what works. And what does
work, more quickly and more powerfully, than just about anything, is a
combination of breath, movement, and poses, along with the science of
sequence and rhythm, as well as mental focus and vibratory effect.
Kundalini Yoga has the global effect of balancing the glandular and
nervous systems, freeing up trapped energy, and serving as a catalyst
for emotional healing and creative, and spiritual expansion. The
workouts in Kundalini Yoga have evolved, over thousands of years, with
this global effect in mnind. Words pale before direct experience.
Therefore, to really understand what Kundalini Yoga is all about, join
me for the experience of it on Wednesday, May 13th at 6:00 pm when the
first introductory class will be held in the clubhouse. But while you
are waiting for that date to arrive, try this: Sit comfortably with a
straight spine. For 1 minutes, inhale and raise both shoulders up
towards the ears. Then exhale and lower them. Continue this inhale up,
exhale down movement of your shoulders while you more vigorously and
breathe powerfully through your nose. Don’t waver. Keep going with power
for the full duration of the exercise. After all, it’s only one little
minute. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. To end, inhale
and raise your shoulders, then exhale, drop your shoulders and relax.
Sit still with your eyes closed for 30 seconds. Be aware of how you feel
when energy is present. This is the movement of Prana. Feel the life
force of every living cell given to us by our Creator. As a key
ingredient to happiness, what we all want is control of some guarantee
in the matter of what becomes of us. A way to self-determine. Now you
know that every time you do that exercise, you will be energized and
feel better. A wide range of techniques in Kundalini Yoga have
pre-determined benefits such as this one. Techniques which are easy to
make part of your life. Techniques you can count on. Techniques that
make you feel alive with your Divinity. Join me for class in May.
Experience your experience of your own Divinity. Share a cup of Yogi tea
and community after class, right here in Heritage Hills. Everyone, men
and women, is welcome!

Ponderings From the Manager
Spring is on the horizon; I feel it in the air! The snow a couple days ago
was just a threat; glad it came and left so quickly! With the warmer
weather upon us, Miller has already been busy in the community trying to
get some of the common areas cleaned up. They are doing their best as
weather permits! Grass cutting is scheduled to begin the week of April
20th; once again weather permitting. A map showing the grass cutting
schedule was delivered to all homeowners in March. If you have any
questions, don’t hesitate to ask us in the office and we will tell you
when you can be expected to have your property mowed. Miller will be at
the Clubhouse on Saturday, April 25th at 11:00 am to answer any of your
questions about the services they offer and to tell you about all they can
do for you. Come on over and meet the crew, enjoy a little snack and juice
and hear what they have to share!
I have heard from several residents that they have some concerns regarding
trip hazards on their sidewalks or driveways because of dropped concrete.
Last year we had a contractor from Concrete Levelers come in and do this
kind of work for several residents who were satisfied with their work.
They received a better price for the fix because of having several jobs
here at Heritage. We will be offering the same service this year. If you
would like to receive a bid from Concrete Levelers, just notify us at the
office. We will call them and tell them who is interested. They will come
out, survey and give you a bid. If you choose to have the work done, you
let us know and then they will schedule the date and time to do the work.
Trying to help you out and save you some money! Call us by April 15th and
we will do our part to get your concrete leveled!
Several residents have passed along information to share with you. Harlan
Quinn wants to let everyone know that if you have AARP Healthcare that
membership fees to the YMCA will be paid. With such a beautiful facility
so close, it is most certainly worth looking into! Elaine Kissel thought
everyone should know that there is a cell phone national do not call list.
If you are bothered by sale calls on your cell phone, here is the thing to
do! All cell phone numbers will be released to telemarketing companies.
You will be charged for these calls! To prevent this, call the following
number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL
list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for
five years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have
blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number. Sounds like a good
idea, doesn’t it?
As the snow birds begin to come home, hope you all come say hello! We
welcome you all home! Spring is on the horizon with summer just behind. We
will be preparing to open the pool and get ready for summer time! Heritage
in the Hills is celebrating it’s 10 Year Anniversary in 2009. We will be
celebrating with an anniversary party this summer. If you’d like to help
us plan for this event, give us a call and let us know! Watch the monthly
newsletter for all the summer fun we’ve got planned! Looking forward to
seeing everyone around the pool! Until then, Happy Spring and a Blessed
Easter to All!
Thought as a closing, I’d share an email I received from my 13 year old
granddaughter. I printed it out and have it hanging on my desk at home as
a daily reminder. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
LIVE EACH DAY
Always try to help a friend in need. Believe in yourself. Be brave .. but
it’s ok to be afraid sometimes. Study hard. Give lots of kisses. Laugh
often. Don’t be overly concerned with your age or weight, it’s just a
number. Always try to see the glass half full. Meet new people, even if
they look different to you. Remain calm, even when it seems hopeless. Take
lots of naps. Be weird whenever you have the chance. Love your friends, no
matter who they are. Don’t waste food. RELAX. Take an occasional risk. Try
to have a little fun each day. Work together as a team. Share a joke with
friends. Fall in love with someone ..and say I Love You often. Express
yourself creatively. Be conscious of your appearance. Always be up for
surprises. Love someone with all your heart. Share with friends. Watch
your step. There is always someone who loves you more than you know.
Exercise to keep fit. Live up to your name. Seize the moment. Indulge in
the things you truly love. Cherish every Sunday. At the end of the day,
pray; and close your eyes. And smile at least once a day!
ONE MORE PONDERING .. NEED YOUR HELP!
It has come to my attention and the attention of the Board that we have a
very serious problem in the community! Someone is walking their dog in the
community and picking up feces when needed and putting it in ziplock
sandwich bags. Problem is, instead of taking the bags home and disposing
of correctly, they are throwing the bags in the woods near the water
streams running throughout. THIS IS A SERIOUS
PROBLEM! This is against City Ordinance and the Association
could be sighted and ticketed for this by the City of Auburn Hills. This
is a dangerous situation which could cause contamination in the water!
PLEASE! When you are walking your pet, please pick up after them and take
it home and dispose PROPERLY. As a
necessity, we will be watching to be sure everyone is cooperating. Please
help us in keeping our community and city safe for everyone!
