Special
Recognition To Our Residents:
- A very special thanks to those who have graciously
donated to the sewing group or the knitters. Either by your donation of

support given! A special thanks this month to Diane Basso and Diane
Wilson.
- A special thanks to the men and ladies golfers of
Heritage in the Hills for the purchase of shirts for the Heritage Belles

VETERANS DAY LUNCHEON CELEBRATION
Friday, November 14th at Noon
$12/Person

Veterans’ Day is observed in honor of individuals, living and dead, who
served with the Armed Forces in times of peace as well as war. The Dept.
of Veterans’ Affairs states “throughout this Nation’s history, America’s
soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and coastguardsmen have bravely
answered the call to defend our freedom, to aid our friends and allies,
and to turn back aggressors. We can never fully repay our debt of
gratitude to the more than 650,000 American service members who died in
battle or the 1.4 million who were wounded. We can, however, recognize and
thank the 25 million veterans still living today.” With this thought;
won’t you come join us?
Lunch will be served after the Pledge of Allegiance at Noon. During lunch
if you’d like to speak about your experiences, we would love to hear your
stories. If you have uniforms or anything to share; we would love to see
that as well! Following lunch we will show the film, “Early Aviation”
which is one part of a three-part series that was shown on PBS. It will
last for approximately one hour. Mary Troff has loaned us this film and is
excited to share that her father is in the film for a second! Hopefully it
will bring back some memories for some of you. Sit back, enjoy a great
lunch by Catering by Katherine, share stories with your neighbors and
friends; watch a great movie and have a lot of fun! Everyone is invited!
Come celebrate with us!

Ponderings From the Manager
Remember that Election Day is Tuesday, November 4th!
This presidential election will be one of the most important in near
memory, and every single vote will be critical, yours included! Who sits
in the White House and the decisions they make will affect us all. Your
vote is your voice, so let it be heard!
137 residents came to the Clubhouse on October 4th to get their Flu Shot.
A special thanks to Marian Hansen and Rosemary Caccamo who coordinated the
event.
Many of you are wondering how long Miller will be cutting, when the fall
clean-up will occur and when the compost will stop being picked up. Miller
will be here cutting through the week of November 10th. This last week
will also include fall clean-up which means they won’t just be blowing the
leaves, they will bag them and take them away. The compost will continue
to be picked up on Wednesday’s with the last pick-up scheduled for
November 19th. Hopefully we won’t see snow before these times!
With November upon us, we are already being threatened by snow! Hope we
don’t see the lawn mowers and snow plows on the property at the same time!
Just some winter reminders - please do not park on the street during the
winter months if possible. The snow plows will plow the snow around the
parked car and you will be plowed in! Also, talking about parking on the
street, please show care in parking by the mailboxes. Please do not let
this be a problem for your neighbors! Be kind and be sure your parked car
on the street isn’t causing a problem for a neighbor. Your consideration
would be greatly appreciated!
Another reminder as the darkness comes upon us earlier during the winter
months; please be sure your garage coach lights are in working order. This
helps keep our community well lit and safe. There has also been notice of
shrubbery or arborvitae’s growing tall and blocking the lights. Please be
sure to trim these bushes so that the lights are shining to their fullest!
Your cooperation, as always, is greatly appreciated!
Last month a Flower Fund envelope was included with the Heritage
Headlines. I failed to inform you that if you are writing a check to make
a donation to the Flower Fund, please make it payable to Willie Swayze.
Thank you for all those who have or will be making a donation to the
Flower Fund. These envelopes can be returned to the Clubhouse office.
One more reminder! With the winter months upon us, remember that if you
are in the Clubhouse and are cold, feel free to turn the heat up. However,
please remember to shut it back down before you leave. And if you turn a
light on; please remember to turn it off when you leave. Your help in this
matter makes a huge difference in our electrical bills! We want you to be
comfortable while at the Clubhouse, just remember to save the energy when
you leave!
Many of you are getting ready to head South! Before you leave, remember to
complete the Notice of Absence form and turn it into the Clubhouse office.
This gives us emergency telephone numbers and your address so we can send
you the newsletter while you are gone. We don’t keep them from year to
year; so you must fill out a new one. Have a safe trip and a wonderful
winter! Happy Thanksgiving to All!

THE RED HAT HOT HONEYS HAPPENINGS
If you have any questions about the events listed or would like to join
the Red Hats, please call Willie Swayze at 475-0012
We had a marvelous outing in October thanks to the great planning of
Janice Mosesso. The lecture at Dumochelle Galleries and previewing their
upcoming auction was stimulating. Four ladies put in bids on items that
interested them. Alas, no one was called saying they had purchased
anything but it was fun trying. After Dumochelles we hopped across the
street to Sweet Lorraines for a tasty lunch. It was convenient, fun and
the weather even cooperated.
Don’t forget the Holly and Ivy Fashion Luncheon Show on November 9th.
Please contact Pat Proper if you wish to attend.
Happy Thanksgiving to All!

(From the October, 2008 Board of Directors Meetings)
To increase communications about Board activities we are placing a brief
overview of some of the topics discussed at each month’s Board meeting in
the Monthly newsletter. Here are some topics from last month:
ASSOCIATION NEWS
-
The winners of a two-year term to the Board of Directors
were announced at the Annual Meeting which was held on October 21, 2008.
We congratulate Bob Luttermoser, Nelson Davey and Bob Miller on their
re-election to the Board of Directors. The Board would also like to
thank candidates Dominick Ferranti,
Kathy Mischley, Dave Molnar, and Bob Wolfe for running in the election.
-
Our defibrillator has been ordered. We are waiting for the
wall cabinet which will house the equipment to arrive. After it arrives,
our staff will be trained in its use and classes in CPR will be offered
to the community.
-
The 2009 budget has been finalized and approved. As was
announced at our annual meeting, the monthly association dues will be
raised to $235.00. The increase was necessitated by increases in our
lawn care and snow removal contracts.
-
The city of Auburn Hills has replaced the dead trees along
Tienken Road. The city will water these trees while the weather permits
to give them a good start. The city has also completed work on the
drains and curbing along our west entrance. This will alleviate the
drainage problems we have had in the past.
MANAGER’S REPORT
We had another very successful flu shot clinic. We had 137
residents get their shots this year. Many ladies of Heritage in the
Hills dressed dolls for the Goodfellows this year. We are giving 60
dolls to needy children this Christmas.
ARCHITECURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
The Board contracted to have repairs made to the asphalt in
the area behind the guardhouse, and also along Riverside Drive. Bob
Luttermoser. and Bernie Ris reviewed the entire Community for dead trees
which need attention due to safety reasons. Also, some others were
reported by residents in the area of their homes which were on common
property. All trees to be cut this winter have been identified by
plastic yellow ribbon. In early December, our selected tree company will
be estimating the costs. At that time, residents who turned in ARC
Applications for tree removal on their property will be contacted with
their estimates. Expect tree cutting during January 2009.
