Special
Recognition To Our Residents:
- A very warm and heartfelt thanks to Rosemary Caccamo
who has done the Heritage Flower Fund for over seven (7) years. She has
turned her responsibilities over to Willie Swayze who has already begun
in her role. We thank you Rosemary for your outstanding attention to
quick responses to residents in sending a beautiful bouquet in time of
need. Your accurate bookkeeping and records are very much appreciated. A
special thanks to Marian Hansen, assistant to Rosemary, who will
continue working with Willie. You ladies have done an excellent job!
Thank you!
- Thanks to Diane McDaniel, the volunteer who helped
set up for the Volunteer Luncheon last month! Also thanks to Al Mosesso
who helped set up and take down tables. We appreciate all the helping
hands to those cleaning up, especially to Briggi Williams, Pat
Siepielski, Chris DeGroot and Sylvia Bucknavich.
- A very warm thanks to Ross DiPonio and Nelson Davey
who set up tables for our Cinco De Mayo last mnonth. Thanks to Diane
McDaniel and Briggi Williams for setting up all the tables. Also
recognized for their hard work, the many hands who helped clean up,
especially Barb Shrem and Pat Siepielski.
- A huge hurrah to our BBQ cooks at our Memorial Day
Pool Opening Party in May, Domenic Ferranti, Mel Ulfig and Lew Robbins.

RESIDENTS SENDING SPECIAL THANK YOUS:
- Norm Cloyd shares his thanks: A special thanks for
the visit from Dick Hansen and Al Mosesso and the gift of the
beautiful and warm blanket. It will certainly provide a lot of warmth
during those difficult times. It was a pleasure having the company.
Thank you for the beautiful gift of joy.
- Dorie Burns writes: Dear friends and neighbors,
Thank you for the beautiful flowers. I really enjoyed the colors,
scent and cheerful wishes. They brought a smile that indeed made me
feel much better! Thanks again.
- Shirley Bentley shares: Dear Friends and Neighbors
at Heritage in the Hills: Your kindness was greatly appreciated at a
time when it meant the most. The cards and flowers, delicious goodies
and prayers were just what I needed during my recovery. Thanks again!
- Conrad Proctor shares: It was such a pleasant
unexpected surprise and encouragement to receive the nice basket of
cheerful flowers after my time in Beaumont for coronary disease. Thank
you so much!
DID EVERYONE SEE THIS ENCLOSURE WITH YOUR WATER
BILL?
In an effort to reduce instances of low water pressure
and help control future water rate increases, Auburn Hills is urging
residents to use voluntary outdoor water restrictions this summer. The
city is asking residents and businesses to voluntarily limit outdoor
water usage to odd/even restrictions. Residents and businesses with odd
numbered addresses are asked to do outdoor watering only on odd numbered
dates. Those who have even numbered addresses, should water lawns, fill
swimming pools, wash cars, etc. only on even numbered dates. In
addition, Auburn Hills is also asking residents to voluntarily limit
outdoor water use between the hours of 5 am and 9 am. Water consumption
is at its peak during this time.
EYEGLASSES FOUND
A pair of eyeglasses were found on the driveway at
3636 Camden Court. If you were out for a walk and lost your glasses,
come see us in the office we have them!
BIRDIE!
In May, it was noted that Nelson Davey got a BIRDIE on
the 11th Hole on the Golf Course. As he hit the ball off the tee, it
connected with a birdie! Goodbye Birdie! Amazing!

Ponderings From the Manager
Sure has been a funny Spring, hasn’t it? One day
warm and the next COLD! Must say, however, it has been beautiful! The
community already looks so green and trimmed; Miller has done a fine job
in getting us ready for summer! As of this writing all the common flowers
are being planted and the Garden Committee has been very busy planting and
arranging all the flowers around the benches in the community and at the
poolside. Be sure to thank them and let them know how beautiful everything
looks! Speaking of the Garden Committee, they could use some help with
watering throughout the summer. If you can commit to a week or two, please
call Betty McCullough for more information. Many hands make the job easier
for everyone!
It was about a year ago that we started the quilt squares for our first
Heritage in the Hills quilt. Many residents made beautiful squares. The
Sewing Group agreed to put the quilt together and purchased the material
for around the quilt and for the backing. The material was in a drawer in
the Craft Room and we found it all missing a week ago. The pieces were all
cut and semi-sewn together for the edging. We are all just devastated that
someone has taken the material and we must start all over. PLEASE take a
look around and see if somehow by error that material was taken home with
you from the clubhouse. If you find you have it in your possession, please
just return it to the Craft Room. At this point in time, not sure if the
Sewing Group is motivated to begin again. If you can help us in anyway to
solve this mystery, we would certainly appreciate it!
I have a few community reminders this month. PLEASE slow down while
driving through the community. Especially this time of year when there are
lots of walkers, joggers and bike riders! Slow down and drive safely! Also
a reminder that while you are walking your pets, please remember to
clean-up after them! Everyone will appreciate that! With summer right
around the corner and warmer temperatures coming (I’m pretty sure of it),
when you come into the Clubhouse feel welcome to turn the temperature
lower for your comfort. Just remember to return it to the original temp
when leaving. Remember to always shut the lights off too. Your help will
help us save!
There are lots of new things on the calendar for June and upcoming months.
Be sure to take a look and join us when you can. The pool is open and
beautiful thanks to John Bell and his hard work. Be sure to take time to
“smell the roses” and enjoy the comfort of your sunny community. While you
are out walking, stop on in and say hello! Always great to see everyone!
See you at the pool!

THE AMERICAN SPIRIT
Cell Phone Recycling Program
Cell Phones for Soldiers turns old cell phones into
more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops
stationed overseas. Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded by teenagers
Robbie & Brittany Bergquist from Massachusetts. The non-profit
organization has raised almost $1 million in donations and distributed
more than 400,000 prepaid calling cards to soldiers.
It’s very simple to help and free! Every phone donated will help
increase the amount of talk time the soldier’s can receive. Mail just
the phone. Batteries, chargers and accessories are not required. The
cell phones are sold and then calling cards are purchased. The phones
are mailed postage paid!
Do you have an old cell phone laying around? Bring it up to the
clubhouse and we’ll mail them from here. Consider helping to give our
soldiers some opportunities to talk to their family back home. Drop cell
phones in the box in the Craft Room. Phones will be collected until June
15th. Let’s do our part and make a donation today!

(From the May, 2007 Board Meeting)
To increase communications about Board activities we are placing a brief
overview of some of the topics discussed at each month’s Board meeting in
the Monthly newsletter. Here are some topics from last month:
ASSOCIATION NEWS:
-
The members of the Board of Directors would like to
reiterate that they are unable to respond to anonymous letters. The
Board always responds to signed letters received from Heritage
homeowners.
-
Last year the Board asked the community if there was any
interest in using the bocce courts as the courts were in need of repair
and the repairs would be very costly. Only three people responded that
they would use the courts. As a result, the Board decided to have the
area filled in with grass. This area will be available to use the bocce
equipment for lawn bowling.
-
The Board is suggesting all residents have their furnaces
inspected on a regular basis and also have carbon
monoxide detectors installed in your homes.
CLUBHOUSE:
A resident requested that we install a buzzer at the front
door for use when residents forget to bring their keys. After
discussion, the Board decided against this. Please make an effort to
bring your keys when using the clubhouse. This enables us to have a
record of who is using the clubhouse after hours. Also, for groups using
the clubhouse after hours, please do not leave the front door standing
open. This is against clubhouse policy.
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE:
Pond Maintenance:
The pumps have been installed in the north and south ponds and the weed
control program is underway.
Landscaping:
All spring clean-up has been completed on the common property and the
area around the pool has been trimmed and cleaned.
SWIMMING POOL UPDATES AND NEWS
The pool is open and inspection has been passed by the
Health Department. Hurray to Greg Mischley who had the courage to jump
in our opening day despite the outside temps!
Hope you take the time to come down to the pools this summer. The spa
has been completely re-done; nice smooth sides and bottom now! Please
remember when coming to the pool, bring your clubhouse key with you. If
the office is closed, you will need the key to enter the clubhouse
building to use the restrooms and showers. When you enter the pool area
and leave the area, please remember to sign-in and out. Everyone should
have a pool pass and remember it must be visible to the Pool
Operator. If you are having more guests than tags, call and get approval
from the Association Manager before coming.
Children’s Swim Time is from 2:00-5:00 pm daily. Children are identified
as those 12 years of age and younger. Children of these ages are NOT
allowed in the spa (as per State Law) and will be strictly enforced. The
pool water is kept at 84 degrees while the spa is at 104. Please come
down, sit back and relax and enjoy the beauty of the pool environment.
If you have any concerns regarding the pool, please talk to one of your
Pool Operators!

ODDS
AND ENDS
I AM YOUR FLAG
I am your flag. I was born on June 14th, 1777. I am
more than just cloth shaped into design. I am the refuge of the world’s
oppressed people. I am the silent sentinel of freedom. I am the emblem
of the greatest sovereign nation on earth.
I am the inspiration for which American patriots gave their lives and
fortunes. I have led your sons into battle from Valley Forge to the
bloody swamps of Vietnam. I walk in silence with each of your honored
dead, to their final resting places beneath the silent white crosses,
row upon row. I have flown through peace and war, strife and prosperity,
and amidst it all, I have been respected.
My red stripes .. Symbolize the blood spilled in defense of this
glorious nation. My white stripes .. Signify the burning tears shed by
Americans who lost their sons. My blue field .. Is indicative of God’s
heaven under which I fly. My stars .. Clustered together, unify 50
states as one, for God and country. “Old Glory” is my nickname, and
proudly I wave on high. I AM your flag.
