Ponderings From the Manager
Hasn’t the weather been absolutely beautiful? The
trees are in bloom and everything is greening up and looking wonderful!
Hurrah for Spring! Miller has been in the community and busy doing
clean-up in the common areas. The grass cutting will begin the first week
of May. Clean up on your property will occur with the first cutting. For
the cutting schedule; see the map in the Clubhouse in the Lobby. Please
remember not to water your lawns the day before cutting or on the day of
cutting until after the maintenance is completed. Your cooperation will be
greatly appreciated as always! If you find a broken sprinkler head or any
other problems which you think were caused by the winter snow plowing,
please call and report them to the clubhouse. Miller will then call and
schedule a time to come out and fix the problems. If you have the problem
fixed by another company, Miller will not be responsible for the bill.
They will fix it if they feel they were responsible; but will not pay a
bill if you have the work done by someone else. Better to call the
clubhouse and report it and then be patient!
We find that we are once again short one white linen tablecloth for the
round tables. Please check around to be sure you don’t have one sitting
waiting to be returned to the clubhouse. We’ve just replaced one lost one;
and now there is one missing again! Can you help us with this mystery?
The Hospitality Committee met last month and would like to begin the Care
Committee once again. The Care Committee will be volunteers who are
available to help residents when in need. Perhaps it would be doing
grocery shopping after an illness or surgery. Or picking up medicines.
Things like that. We are looking for volunteers that would be willing to
help in situations like this. Claire Emmons will be compiling a list of
interested volunteers. If you find you may have a little time to offer
some help to a neighbor, please call Claire and let her know. Then when
someone needs some assistance; we will be there to offer the help. Please
offer volunteering so that we can continue to be the best caring community
ever!
This month we are doing a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon for the many
volunteers that offer assistance in so many ways throughout the year. If
you have volunteered in 2007, you will receive an invitation by mail
within the next couple days. Please RSVP to let us know if you will be
available to join us. It is just a small way we can thank you for your
continued dedication and hard work to Heritage in the Hills. We appreciate
you all and would like to extend our thanks! Hope you will be able to join
us!
It has come to our attention that residents have had some problems with
rusty vent pipes from either the furnace or hot water heaters in their
home. Please be aware that this has happened in several homes and it
should be noted when you are receiving furnace maintenance or service. To
assure proper operation of the heating/cooling system in your home, it is
suggested that you have annual routine inspections for your furnace and
hot water heater. It seems some problems are caused by condensation
collecting at the bottom bend of the furnace/water heater, thus causing
rusting. It is also a great idea to install some type of Carbon Monoxide
warning device in your home if you don’t have one now. If you have any
questions regarding this issue; please call the clubhouse office.
As of this writing, the Spa has been opened and is under construction.
Because of a wall leak throughout last summer, we have had to do some
major maintenance on the spa. The end result will be beautiful! Be sure to
check it out when you enter the pool area this summer. The pool is
scheduled to open on the evening of Friday, May 23rd at our Celebration
Pot Luck. The pool will open with it’s regular hours on Saturday, May
24th. The Pool Rules & Procedures are on the back page of this newsletter.
Please take the time to familiarize yourself with them as they will be
strictly enforced. The pool is a very beautiful asset at Heritage. Take
the time to enjoy it this summer. It is open from 10 am until 10 pm daily.
Be sure to schedule time at the pool in your daily schedule. Sit back,
relax and enjoy the beauty of it all! Here’s to warm and sunny days!

in MayTHE AMERICAN SPIRIT
Cell Phone Recycling Program
Cell Phones for Soldiers turns old cell phones into
more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops
stationed overseas. Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded by teenagers
Robbie & Brittany Bergquist from Massachusetts. The non-profit
organization has raised almost $1 million in donations and distributed
more than 400,000 prepaid calling cards to soldiers.
It’s very simple to help and free! Every phone donated will help
increase the amount of talk time the soldier’s can receive. Mail just
the phone. Batteries, chargers and accessories are not required. The
cell phones are sold and then calling cards are purchased. The phones
are mailed postage paid!
Do you have an old cell phone laying around? Bring it up to the
clubhouse and we’ll mail them from here. Consider helping to give our
soldiers some opportunities to talk to their family back home. Drop cell
phones in the box in the Craft Room. Phones will be collected until May
31st. Let’s do our part and make a donation today!

closed for reasons beyond our control. Situations such as when water
chemicals are unsettling, equipment failures, spillage of blood or feces
or even inclement weather. We will do all possible to open the pool as
soon as possible. If you see the POOL CLOSED sign posted, DO NOT ENTER
the pool area. If you are asked to leave the pool area by a Pool
Operator because of an emergency pool closure, please cooperate and know
we aren’t happy about it either! We have lots of procedures to follow
driven by the county and state and must keep the health and safety as
our first concern. We truly would appreciate your support and
cooperation during these times.
In case of inclement weather, the pool and spa will be automatically
closed. If you are at the pool and thundering and lightening begins;
please leave the pool area at once. If shelter is needed, please enter
the clubhouse. If the weather is demonstrating a light rain; the pool
will remain open and you are welcome to wait on the deck until it
passes. However, the pool must be evacuated if it is raining; NO
EXCEPTIONS! It will only be closed at the sighting of lightening and
thunder.
While at the pool area, if you see the Pool Rules or Procedures are not
been followed, please notify a Pool Operator or a staff member in the
clubhouse office. They will handle the situation and make sure the rules
are being enforced without putting you in an awkward position.
Anyone causing damage to the pool, pool area, spa, bathrooms or pool
furniture will be held liable for all damages.
Violation of Pool Rules may result in SUSPENSION of pool privileges. The
Association Manager and Board of Directors reserves the right to alter,
amend, revoke or add rules as deemed necessary; at which time you will
be notified.
