Special
Recognition To Our Residents:
- A special thanks goes to Dick Hansen for coming and
rescuing the passengers that were on the bus trip to the Henry Ford
Museum last month. The bus broke down and wouldn’t start! Dick was on
his way home from an airport run and turned around to come get everyone!
He was our king of the day! Thank you Dick for being there and getting
us home safe and secure!
- In March we had a fun time at our Bunko Party thanks
to Marian Hansen. Our Bunko prize winners were: Flo Dorman (for Most
Snake Eyes); Ethyle Marshall (Overall Winner); Ceil Kudla (Last Bunko);
Cheryl Obester (Most Bunko’s) and Lew Anthony (Loser). A heartfelt
thanks to Marian who led the game; led everyone from table to table and
kept her patience the entire time! A great dessert was served following
play. Thank you to all for a fun afternoon!
- State Rules and Regulations state that we must have a
Certified Pool Operator on campus or available within a 15 minute period
during pool hours. John Bell and Karen are certified. This year, Nelson
Davey traveled in from Florida to take the class and we are proud to
announce he has also become certified! Congratulations, Nelson! Thanks
for going over and beyond for Heritage once again!

RESIDENTS SENDING SPECIAL THANK YOUS:
- Carol Knapp writes: I want to extend a sincere
thank you to everyone for flowers, cards, and delicious meals during
my recent surgery and recovery. I am so truly happy to be living in
such a warm community!
- Fritz Troff sends his thoughts: I would like to
thank the many residents of Heritage in the Hills who sent cards,
flowers, notes, and called while I was in the hospital recovering from
surgery. And to the Heritage Community for flowers they sent. Also a
big “thank you” to the many people who dropped off the results of
their culinary skills or offered to run errands. It is the
thoughtfulness of our neighbors that make this a great place to live!
- LaVerne Luttermoser shares: THANK YOU! Thanks to
all for the beautiful flower arrangement and for all of the get well
wishes after my surgery.
- Dee Egan shares: Thank you so very much for the
beautiful flowers. They’ve certainly helped in cheering up my day!
It’s good to finally be home!
- Ed Kruse shares his thanks: I would like to thank
everyone for all the thoughts shared during my recent illness. Thank
you for the beautiful flowers too. It’s been a blessing!
MORE HEARTFELT THANKS …
- To Judy Bradley and Craig & Ann Annis for their
generous donations to the sewing and knitting groups for materials for
their charity projects. We certainly appreciate your support for these
worthy causes. Thank you so much!
- At Christmas we participated in the Giving Tree
program with Lighthouse. We just received a note from #531. It reads:
“Thank you for your support. Me and my family are so blessed and we
all give thanks. May God bless you all.”
- Deanna Eubanks from Gilda’s Club of Metro Detroit
writes: We would like to thank you for your generous gift of hand knit
scarves. They are absolutely beautiful and our members have really
enjoyed them. Thank you so much for your kindness.
- The Heritage Belles would like to extend a very
warm and heartfelt thanks to the Board of Directors at Heritage in the
Hills for the wonderful opportunity to attend the Cincinnati Bell Ring
at the end of February. It was so inspirational and great fun! Thank
you so very much for the support in helping us go. Ringing with 700

Ponderings From the Manager
I promise; Spring is on it’s way … somewhere;
sometime! Hopefully we’ll see the last of winter’s creations very soon.
Think we are all ready to see this snow gone for good! What a winter
season it’s been! With the thoughts of Spring approaching , I will remind
you that as you experience the “thaw” that if you find broken sprinkler
heads or sod damage from the winter; please call the office and report
them. Please do not call Miller Landscape direct for these claims. If the
damage is done from the snow plows or salt situation, Miller will make the
repair free of charge. However, if the problem is “bigger” than just a
thaw problem; they will speak with you if there will be a charge for the
work. It’s also time to begin thinking about fertilization needs or
landscape needs for your property.
Remember that Miller offers several packages that you may want to review.
They will be here at the Clubhouse on Saturday, May 3rd at 11:00 am to
answer questions and just talk about the services they render.
Lawn cutting will begin about the 3rd week of April; weather permitting.
The first cut will include a basic “clean up” as well. As in the past,
there will be a reversal of the lawn cutting schedule. We do this to try
to keep everyone happy! This means that Phases I and III will be cut on
Thursday and Friday. The Hillside phases will be cut on Tuesday and
Wednesday. A map will be posted in the Clubhouse closer to the cut date
that will show specifically when you can expect to have your lawn cut.
Remember that inclement weather can change this
schedule if necessary. If you have any questions regarding the cutting
schedule, please feel free to contact the office.
As you all know, near the end of the winter we needed to add dirt to our
salt as it was laid on the streets. After the thaw is complete and the
threat of snow exhausted, the streets will be cleaned. This is a practice
the Association does twice yearly. We will be anxious to have this
completed this year!
The office needs your help! If you become aware of a neighbor or friend
that is hospitalized or ill; please call and notify the office. We don’t
always “hear” about these situations right away and would like to know
that status of our residents! This also allows us to order flowers and
send cards on part of the Association. Thank you for your help in this
matter!
Just a reminder that there are still plenty of telephone books in the
craft room. They were all delivered to the clubhouse so that we didn’t
have these books sitting on the porches of those who are snow birds. That
can become very unsightly very quickly. So when you are at the clubhouse,
stop on in the craft room and pick up your copy soon! The pile has
significantly gone down; but there are still A LOT of them there! Get
yours today!
Resident, Dr. David Mascitelli was surprised when he received a flier on
his mailbox showing his picture and phone number. It still remains a
mystery as to how these fliers hit the mailboxes on Springwood Court;
however David would like everyone to know that he was not responsible for
delivering those fliers. We thought it important for you all to know that
this flier was not delivered with any intention! David is sorry for the
inconvenience and will continue to investigate the situation until we find
some answers! Thank you!
You will find a flier included in the mailed newsletter regarding a trip
scheduled to The Shaw Festival and Niagara Falls on June 24 - 26. We will
spend one night in St. Catherine (and 2 shows) and one night in Niagara
Falls. Please consider traveling with us! Look at the information provided
and do not hesitate! We need you to make a commitment as soon as possible
as tickets need to be paid in full prior to the trip. I am often asked if
friends can attend from outside of the community. Absolutely! This year we
added the night in Niagara Falls to do some gambling or just enjoy the
beauty of this city. Last years trip was very successful and a lot of fun!
Join with us to do it again! If you have any questions regarding the trip,
give us a call! Remember you don’t need a passport this year to enter into
Canada. A picture ID and a Birth Certificate is all you need! Decide to
travel with us!

ODDS
AND ENDS
GOLF SURPRISE
While playing golf in sunny Naples with Nelson Davey
and Dick (Coach) Kennedy, Tom Rapp hit yet
another ball into the water. Not wanting to get his NEW ball retriever
wet, Tom elected instead to retrieve the ball by hand. While talking to
his cart mate instead of looking, Tom bent down, put his hand into the
water to pick up the ball. As luck would have it, there was an alligator
next to the ball. As Tom reached for ball, the gator reached for Tom’s
arm. That was the last we saw of Tom as he fell back, started jumping
and running up the fairway, while expressing his shock and fear in the
strongest possible terms. The Moral of this story is: SOMETIMES
BETTER TO KEEP THE MOUTH CLOSED AND THE EYES OPEN.
