Recognition To Our Residents:
- A very heart –filled thanks to Sylvia
and Jim Bucknavich for hosting the Valentine Pot Luck and Trivia Social
in February. There was a wonderful spread of delicious food brought by
those in attendance. After dinner, a group game of Trivia Pursuit was
played. Sylvia came up with some great questions and each group gave
their answer. The winners won the pot which was $1.00 per person. There
were a lot of laughs and fun was had by all. We will have to plan to
repeat this event this summer out on the deck by the pool! Thank you
both for a job well done!
- Some of you have come into the
clubhouse over the past few weeks and noticed the re-arranging of
furniture. If you haven’t stopped in to see it yet; please do! It looks
wonderful and is certainly a welcome change! A special thanks goes to
Larry andLynaye Prior, Joyce Sanders, Ann Moran and John Bell for their
input for the changes and for doing the work to get it done! Let’s give
‘em a hand!! Thanks for a job well done!
- Kudos to our office staff ... Terri
and Andrea Ricketts for filling in for Karen when on vacation! Great job

NOTES OF THANKS
Mary Jane Brennan sends her thanks: Dear
Friends and Neighbors in Heritage in the Hills: Thank you from the family
of Thomas Brennan for the lovely basket of plants and flowers that the
community sent on his recent death. The community’s thoughtfulness helped
during this stressful time. The food, phone calls, cards, thoughts and
prayers were much appreciated. Thanks again!
Betty Bolda sends her thoughts: The thoughtfulness of our neighbors in
preparing food, sending flowers and offering assistance reflects the
kindness and caring we have always experienced in this community. Bob
loved our home in Heritage Hills and enjoyed participating in some of the
activities available here when his health allowed. I am sorry you never
had the chance to know him well. He was a loving and generous man with a
keen intellect and an intense desire to learn more and understand more
deeply. He would be deeply touched by your support, as I am. Thank you
again!
Dick Brennan sends his thanks: Thank you! What a nice bouquet of flowers
from Heritage in the Hills! I also appreciated the cards and phone calls
from so many friends, even those wintering in Florida and Arizona. I will
be undertaking phase 2 which permanently inserts the stimulator on April
4th. Thanks again to everyone!
POSSIBLE SUMMER TRIP MEETING

if there is interest in moving forward in planning. If you can’t make the
meeting but are interested in one or the other, please let Karen know in
the office. Let’s go to Canada! Please join us at this meeting!

Ponderings From the Manager
Good to see “MARCH” come on the calendar, isn’t it? The thoughts of longer
days, less bitter cold weather and the thoughts of spring in our minds.
February was a wonderful month for me with getting married and being on
vacation, but the bitter cold temperatures won’t be missed as we move
forward. I am reminded often of the warmer weather on the way as I’m
already scheduling pool opening dates, county opening dates, etc. So, all
those that have stayed in Auburn Hills to fight the weather; hang in
there! Warmth is on the horizon!
My husband Terry and I would like to thank everyone who sent a beautiful
card and/or gift for my wedding. We certainly felt loved through all the
kindnesses shown. It was wonderful to have so many of you at the clubhouse
to see the ceremony. Thanks for coming and making it so special for us.
The clubhouse was certainly a beautiful place to hold such an event; many
memories made that afternoon! We ended up going North instead of South to
honeymoon. We just didn’t have enough time to try to make it to that
warmer climate! We had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed seeing the
beauty of snow and ice sculptures in Houghton Lake. We spent a lot of time
relaxing and swimming and just kicking back; just what we both needed! It
was, however, nice to come back too! Thanks again to all who shared in our
excitement and will always be remembered in our memories.
Hopefully as the spring is springing into action we will begin to see the
snow melt and things beginning to grow. As the snow melts away you may see
some damage caused by the snow plows this winter. Please call the office
now (in March and April) and let us know what damage it is you see; and
let us know the location on your property. Miller Landscape will fix the
problems caused by the plow, but please understand that THEY will
correct the problem. If you choose to have another contractor do the work,
it is not permissible to turn in the receipt for return payment to Miller.
If you do not want Miller to do the work to fix the problem, you will be
responsible for payment when the work is completed. When and if you see
any problems, simply call the office to report it. The work will be later
in the spring when the weather is more stable. Be sure to see Miller’s
flier in this newsletter. Although Miller has held our grass contract for
the last few years, they are also willing to do other work for homes on an
individual basis. Many residents have already chosen them to do their lawn
care, tree care and more. If you would like more information on their
services, don’t hesitate to give them a call! I am meeting with Miller
(with Mike and Bob) next week to plan out the year. Watch for those
updates in April’s newsletter!
You will be happy to hear that the Resident Picture Directory is at the
printers and is being printed this week. Very sorry about the delay in
printing. The program we are using for this directory has certainly had
his challenges with the photographer and printer. A very special thanks
goes to Greg Barney who has spent numerous hours not just taking the
pictures, but then getting them into this program and into a printable
format. He helped format the directory and has worked hand-in-hand with
the printer. Greg has gone over and above his commitment to “take
pictures” .. he is most definitely our directory publisher. When you see
Greg be sure to thank him for his endless hours of dedication to this
project. By the way, Greg is the one who takes a lot of the pictures that
you might see on the website. Haven’t looked at the website? Better do it
today!
As the weather begins to break I’m sure many of you will be yearning to
get outside with your favorite pet and start walking again. I remind all
pet owners to be responsible while walking your pet throughout the
community. Please be sure to pick-up after your dog while walking and
please remember all pets MUST be on a leash while walking or outside your
home. Remember to dispose of the droppings appropriately; do not throw it
into the woods or into the ponds. Take it home and throw it in your trash!
Remember that this is not only a Heritage in the Hills procedure but also
an Auburn Hills ordinance. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated by
all .. even your pet!
I have been asked by Allied Waste, our garbage contractor, to remind
everyone that the garbage must be at the curbside no later than 6am on
Monday morning. Because of some problems we have experienced with “missed”
pick-ups; there has been a supervisor running through the community to
double check on the work done and they have gotten several complaints that
some are putting their garbage out after they’ve already completed pick-up
on the street. Please remember the community policy states that trash can
not be out before 6:00 pm on Sunday evening during the fall and winter
months or before dark on Sunday night during the rest of the year. Your
cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated!
Now on another personal note I would like to apologize for this newsletter
reaching you a little late this month. My mother took another fall at the
beginning of the week and broke her left wrist in two places. We have been
to specialists and she is now in a cast. This has taken me away from the
office to help her; thus the newsletter being late in distribution. This
is the first month the newsletter is being done completely in-house and we
will see how that process works! We are still looking for volunteers to
help get it off the copy machine and folded before it can be counted and
given to the block volunteers for distribution. If you can help us with
this sit-down job, please give me a call at the office and let me know! It
will certainly make the job quicker once it is copied and ready!
This month we will celebrate the coming of Spring and forthcoming Easter.
Hope you plan on joining in on some of the celebration events we have
scheduled. Come join the fun! Enjoy the spring and ERIN GO BRAUGH!

- HITH HERITAGE QUILT
The Month of March is National Quilters Month.
In support of it, during the month of March will be the creating of our
HITH Heritage Quilt! All resident families are invited to come in and
decorate a cotton square piece of material. There will be paints and
markers available to do this. You can just put your name on your square.
Or perhaps draw a picture. Or write something you enjoy about Heritage
in the Hills. Decorate how you’d like. At the beginning of next month we
take all the squares and sew them together to make a quilt front. We
will ask our Sewing Group to finish the quilt. Once competed, we will
display the quilt at the clubhouse for all to enjoy!
Quilt squares will be available for decorating during regular office
hours throughout the month. The squares and pens and paints will be in
the craft room. Decorate your square here and leave it or take it home
with you If you desire and decorate it there and then bring it back to
us. Just plan on doing one .. or two! This will be a beautiful heirloom
which will be around the clubhouse for years to come. Don’t be
disappointed that you didn’t get down to the clubhouse to make your
square and be part of this piece of history! Feel proud to look at the
quilt and say “that’s MY square!”
If you would like help or ideas for your square, just see us in the
office and we will give you some ideas. Do yours today!

THE RED HAT HOT HONEYS HAPPENINGS
If you
have any questions call either Janice Mosesso at 248-475-7850 or Willie
Swayze at 248-475-0012
Many thanks go to Sylvia Bucknavich and Marian Hansen for our February
activity. We enjoyed an afternoon of yummy treats, boy those cookies were
good, and lots of laughs while we played Bunko. What a great idea! Not
only did we have a lot of fun, moving from table to table gave us the
opportunity to meet, talk with and get to know each other. Thanks ladies
and thank all of you that participated.
We have no activity for March. Error on my part when I said we did.
However, Karen Bishop and Ann Moran will be providing us with an activity
in April. Please watch the Red Hat credenza toward the end of March for a
flyer.
Volunteers are needed to plan events and activities for the year. Please
check your calendars, talk to a friend and see if you can’t take a month.
This is last call for updated information for our membership list. If you
wish to have your name removed as a member, have a new phone number or
some other change that needs to be made, please call me at 475-7850. We
always welcome new members, so if you are interested in joining our group
give me a call.

SOME IRISH BLESSINGS TO SHARE
May you always have walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain, Tea beside the fire and
laughter to cheer you,
And all your heart might desire!
May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you wherever you go!
May the best day of your past
Be the worst day of your future
May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you’re dead!
May your neighbors respect you,
Troubles neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And Heaven accept you.
SOME IRISH POEMS, LYRICS & FUN
THE WEARIN’ O’ THE GREEN
Today is the day fer the wearin’ o’ the green,
Today is the day when the little people are seen.
Today is St. Patrick’s Day, so if ye’r Irish me lad,
Join the celebratin’ fer the grandest time ta’ be had.
I’LL WEAR A SHAMROCK
St. Patrick’s Day is with us,
The day when all that’s seen
To right and left and everywhere
Is green, green, green!
And Irish tunes they whistle
And Irish songs they sing,
To-day each Irish lad walks out
As proud as any king.
I’ll wear a four-leaf shamrock
In my coat, the glad day through,
For my father and other are Irish
And I am Irish too!
MORE BLESSINGS ..
May those who love us, love us
And those who don’t love us,
May God turn their hearts
And if he can’t turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles
So we will know them by their limping!
For each petal on the shamrock
This brings a wish your way -
Good health, good luck, and happiness
Ford today and every day.
There are many good reasons for drinking,
One has just entered my head.
If a man doesn’t drink when he’s living,
How in the hell can he drink when he’s dead?
