Special Recognition To Our Residents:
  • Last month a very dear resident (Doris Stringer) passed away after a long illness. The community came together and helped the family with a memorial service and luncheon held at the clubhouse. Our deepest sympathy goes to the family for their loss. Although the family has thanked the community, it is important that we recognize all those that helped make this so memorable. Joyce Sanders and Ann Moran headed a committee of many. There were almost 50 people who stepped forward and helped in some way or another .. by setting up tables, decorating tables, making food, cleaning up and many other tasks. A very special thanks for coming together in memory of Doris and making the service so special for the family. It is at a time like this that we recognize what a special place Heritage truly has become. Thank you one and all for all your help and support. Your service has been greatly appreciated!

  • A special thanks to the Hospitality Committee for the wonderful Swing into Summer New Member Event they planned last month. Everything from the nametags to the band to the food was outstanding. Thank you for all your hard work and planning! It was a very nice event for our newest members!

  • A very heartfelt thanks to all residents who while walking through the community take time to keep it beautiful by picking up trash along the way. Many pick weeds and clean up common areas and want you to know you are truly

Ponderings From the Manager

I’m sure you have questions about grass cutting this week as we head into the holiday weekend. Miller Landscape WILL NOT be in the community until Wednesday. This will push the schedule back one day. If you usually get cut on Tuesday, it will be Wednesday THIS WEEK ONLY. Normal Wednesday cuts will be done on Thursday and normal Thursday cuts will be one on Friday .. once again for THIS WEEK ONLY. Please do all you can to watch your watering schedule and do not water the day before or day of cutting (until the cutting and clean-up is completed). Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated by everyone!

Miller is still experiencing some hard to mow areas because of excess watering. If there is standing water on your property caused by overwatering, please understand that your lawn will not be cut. If you need help changing your irrigation box schedule; we will help you! Remember that we ask that you not water the day before cutting or the day of cutting. If over-watering occurs, cutting is ceased on your property because of the mess it causes for not only you, but for your neighbors. Please do all you can to help this situation! Thanks!

I have received many calls about changes that have been made at the gate. In the last month I have worked very hard with the guards to maintain security as best as possible. This means that no one will be allowed into the community without permission from the homeowner. To review the procedure, when a guest comes to the gate they are asked who they are seeing and their name. The guard first checks the list you’ve given them for entry. If the name is not there and you have not called to allow entry for that day; they will call you directly. If you do not answer the phone; the entry will be denied. This goes for contractors, visitors or even your Aunt Mary!! It is very important that you do your part by keeping your card updated with the guards and to call if you have anyone (including contractors) coming in on a particular day. Please understand we are not doing this to make you angry; we are doing this for your security. We have also started recording make of vehicle and license plate numbers for all visitors entering the community. Once again, this is only for security reasons and is not met to be an inconvenience to anyone. Please do not take your frustrations out on the guards; they are working hard to keep your community secure and safe. If you have any concerns regarding these procedures; please feel free to talk to me about them. Thank you!

You will find that all events at Heritage now have a number attached to them. This is the number of how many we need to have to make the event possible. We hope this encourages you to sign-up ON TIME and not after the date. If the number is not reached by the sign-up date; the event will be automatically cancelled. Please remember to use the sign-up sheet enclosed with each newsletter and sign-up by the dates assigned.

Just another reminder .. your pets need to be kept on leases while outside in the community. Although they may be friendly, a walker may startle your pet and they may respond with barking or biting. Please help keep the community safe for everyone! Thank you!

(From the June, 2006 Board Meeting)

To increase communications about Board activities we are placing a brief overview of some of the topics discussed at each month’s Board meeting in the Monthly newsletter. Here are some topics from last month:

LAWSUIT

The lawsuit on behalf of Heritage in the Hills Association and all individual owners as a class action has now been filed with the Court. We will report on the progress of this suit as information becomes available.

ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE

A large number of trees will be replaced in common areas. Some of these trees are still under warranty. When we order trees, residents who need to replace dead trees will be able to order trees from our contractor to take advantage of reduced pricing.

CLUBHOUSE

  • Draperies have been sent out for cleaning and have been re-hung. Be sure to take a look! They are beautiful!

  • The trim on the front of the clubhouse, the gazebo and pergolas at the pool have been repainted.

  • The putting green is being cleaned so all Heritage golfers are welcome to come out and practice.

  • The exhaust system on the bus is being repaired. The decals on the bus will be wheeled out and removed. New tires have been ordered.

  • Compressors were repaired on two air conditioning units which were damaged when a user failed to return the thermostats back to their proper temperature after exercising. New thermostats were installed on these units to avoid this from happening again.

  • At the Pool: We were informed by Oakland County that baby diapers may not be changed at poolside and dirty diapers may not be disposed of in the pool waste containers. A baby changing table will be added to the women’s rest room and disposal containers will be added for this purpose. This information will be added to the posted Pool Rules and residents are being asked to note this new policy.
