Ponderings From the Manager As spring is upon us, I remind all pet owners to be responsible while walking your pet throughout the community. Please be sure to pick-up after your dog while walking and please remember all pets must be on a lease while walking. Dispose of the droppings appropriately; do not throw it into the woods or into the ponds. Take it home and throw it in your trash! Remember that this is not only a Heritage in the Hills policy but also a Auburn Hills ordinance. Your cooperation will be appreciated by all! Once again please remember to call the clubhouse office to report any damage you see on your property from the snow plows. Miller Landscape will be in the community in mid-April to remove the orange/red stakes on your property and do the repairs for damages. Many have asked if they can remove the stakes. They need to be left in the ground for a while yet in case of another snow fall before we declare the season over! They will remove in a timely manner once we are assured we will receive no more snow fall. Speaking of Miller Landscape, there will be a change in lawn cutting rotation this year. This change has been made due to resident requests. Although more information on lawn cutting will be in the May newsletter, it is important you are aware of this change now. The beginning of the week (Tuesday and Wednesday) will have the cutters doing the Hillsdale area of the community. The end of the week (Wednesday and Thursday) will have them in Phase I and Phase III. Please remember this change when having your sprinkler system opened and programmed. They will once again ask that you don’t water your lawns the day before cutting or on the day of cutting until after they are done with the job. Failure to comply to this procedure may cause your lawn NOT be cut if the property is too wet. Mike will have some valuable information about this at the seminar he is doing at the clubhouse on Saturday, April 29th. Be sure to mark your calendars and come hear what he has to say! This is a free seminar. We are still having a problem with thermostats being changed while at the clubhouse and not being turned back to original settings when leaving. Please do not turn the thermostats OFF. Feel free to change the temperature up or down; but when done with your activity, return it to the setting you found it at. Also, while the clubhouse office is open, the lights in the building and the fireplace (season appropriate) will be on. We now have coffee and snacks available on a daily basis and are working hard to make it feel like home! Please do not turn off those lights if we are there. If you find the office closed and lights on; please turn them off at that time. Thank you for your cooperation! It’s been so nice to see the spring weather upon us. Nice to see residents out and about in the community walking or talking with neighbors. Welcome home to those that will be returning this month and safe travel wishes to those heading home. We have missed you all! I wish you all an enjoyable Spring and a blessed Passover and Easter! |

For those that did not attend the luncheon and card party on March 17th or are not in town, lists are on the Red Hat credenza with your name in the upper right hand corner. Included is a list of ideas to get your creative juices flowing for future activities. Pat Proper has volunteered to host our April activity. She has a flyer on the Red Hat credenza at the clubhouse. The date is April 21st. Pat has planned a “luncheon on the aisle” at Meadow Brook Theatre. Pick up your flier and RSVP ASAP ! We are still in need of a hostess or hostesses to plan an activity for June and another for December. If anyone is interested, please call either me or Willie. Our March activity was hosted and planned by Claire Emmons and Ann Moran. After a delicious luncheon, prepared by our hostesses, we played cards and a few exciting games of “Farkel”. Thanks Ann and Claire for a great afternoon. Many thanks to Gretchen Thams for her contribution and help with our Hot Honey’s scrapbook. Joyce Sanders has informed me that it is now up-to-date. Thank you Joyce and Gretchen. May brings us a tour of the Michigan Design Center. Diane Hightower and Pat Siepielski are busy putting the final touches on the plans for the day and should have a flyer available by the middle of April. In Friendship, Janice Mosesso |

NEWS FROM THE ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE REPLACEMENT OF DEAD TREES ON RESIDENT’S PROPERTY Many residents have inquired about assistance with replacing dead trees which the builder planted in back or side yards and between the sidewalk and curb (“street trees”). All these trees are the responsibility of the individual homeowners. On behalf of the Heritage in the Hills Board of Directors, the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) is coordinating with residents a project to have Miller Landscape Company remove and replace trees which are diseased or dead. All replacement trees must be a minimum 3 inch diameter and 7 feet high. The street trees must be replaced with the same species of tree (except ash or elm). The yard trees may be specified by the resident with the exception of no fruit bearing trees. The Board of Directors will be making a survey this Spring to identify dead trees and informing residents that they must be replaced. So, if you already know that you have any dead trees from last year, we would ask that you apply at this time to replace them. Please submit an ARC Application (available in the library) to the Clubhouse Office which specifies the trees to be replaced. You will be contacted regarding the cost and timing of this replacement program. We hope that a community-wide effort will result in a cost savings to all. See Karen Brierly if you have any questions. |
