Special Recognition To Our Residents:

A very special thanks to those who helped to move furniture in preparation of the carpet being installed or helped to put it all back after the carpet installation was completed. It was big work!

Warm thanks too: Cy DeMeulemeester, Barry Thornton, Larry Prior, Ross DiPonio, Mel Ulfig, Greg Mischley, John Bell, Al Mosesso, Bob Luttermoser, and Dennis Bodin. Also thanks to Don Cassidy who spent time in re-arranging the exercise room. It looks great!

Thank you to all homeowners for your patience, support and understanding as we were under construction at the clubhouse last month. The new carpet is beautiful and the paint job has certainly brightened up the building. Hope you’ve all had a chance to stop in and see the new look!

A very appreciative thanks to both Joe Columbo and Greg Barney for sharing their Heritage in the Hills pictures that we have used on our new website. Pictures will be updated periodically, so be sure to keep watch to the website (more information on the website in next column).

A very warm thanks to John Imbrunnone for doing a craft class last month and providing all the supplies! Also a special thanks for keeping the Texas Hold ‘Em going!

Ponderings From the Manager

By now I trust many of you have seen the new look at the clubhouse. The new carpet has been laid and the painting has been completed. It looks beautiful! Many have stated that the carpet is much “darker”, and yes, that is true. We went from gold to brown! I think you will agree that the look is much richer. With the many windows and natural light we have at the clubhouse, the color is enhanced. This is a better grade of carpet than we had so upkeep and cleaning should be an easier task! And with the painting completed; it certainly looks very nice. I hope if you haven’t seen it yet, you stop on by and take a look! I know you will like it!

I guess this is an important time to begin a new process! With the old carpet, we all know that the stains were apparent. We don’t want this to happen to our new carpet! Many have said with the darker color that the stains will not show; however this may not be so! If you are at the clubhouse and there is a spill, please report it to the office. It is much easier to kill the spot if we know what was spilled! You do not have to give your name; just let us know what was spilled and where so that we can tackle it head-on and try not to have the stains like we did before. We need your help in order to do this successfully! We expect accidents to happen; just let us know when they do. Your help and support will help us to keep our carpet looking beautiful for years to come!

With the thought of spring coming, we will begin to see the thaw. If you find you have any damage from the snow plowing, please report it to us in the office. The landscaper will make these repairs, please do not have them fixed yourself and then expect a refund. This will not occur unless you are
directed to do so. You MUST report it to the office for repair.

Just a reminder to be sure to check out our newly updated website. It is quite exciting and will be a real asset to our community. Spread the word and have people check it out!

  • SPECIAL THANKS RECEIVED

The American Cancer Society has sent a very special thank you for the beautiful handmade hats that were donated to them for their Chemo Kids program. Our residents made 80 hats which were donated to their program. The hats will be distributed at Children’s Hospital and Beaumont Pediatrics to sick kids. A very warm thanks to all those that made and donated hats. What a wonderful feeling to know we’ve made a difference in the life of a child!

Another warm thanks came from Arden Courts in Sterling Heights and from Crittenton Hospital, Pediatric Division, for the donation they received of knitted Teddy Bears. At Arden Courts, the
Alzheimer patients are smiling while carrying their bears. At Crittenton, they are distributed to sick kids that are seen. Both have stated how great it is to have the support of the community in making other’s lives lighter and better. A very special thanks to all the knitters to helped make the 35 bears we’ve donated.

About 60 cotton washcloths were made by our stitchers. They were then put in bags with a bar of soap. These were then sent to Clothes for Katrina and were sent to shelters for those that suffered thru the Katrina disaster. These efforts have not gone unnoticed! Emails are received daily thanking us for our thoughtfulness. How wonderful we were able to help so many! Thank you knitters.

Mark your calendar! Ann Moran and Claire Emmons have planned lunch and games at the clubhouse for Fri., March 17th. Fliers are now available at the clubhouse on the Red Hat Credenza. Be sure to pick one up and RSVP. It should be a fun

Also, new membership lists will be available starting March 17th. They will be on the Red Hat Credenza with your name on the upper right-hand corner. Along those lines if there is any one that wishes to drop their membership, please call me so that I can delete your name from the list.

RITA SPRINGFELLOW SHARES …RETARDED GRANDPARENTS
And says .. “This is Priceless!”

After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school. One child wrote thefollowing:

We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa. They used to live in a big brick house but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Arizona. Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass. They ride around on their bicycles and wear name tags because they don’t know who they are anymore. They go to a building called a wrecked center, but they must have got it fixed because it is okay now, and do exercises there, but they don’t do them very well. There is a swimming pool too, but in it, they all jump up and down with hats on. At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes they sneak out. They go cruising in their golf carts. Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And, they eat the same thing every night. Early Birds. Some of the people can’t get out past the man in the doll house. The ones who do get out bring food back to the wrecked center and call it pot luck.

My Grandma says Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too. When I earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house. Then I will let people out so they can visit their grandchildren !!

(From the February, 2006 Board Meeting)

To increase communications about Board activities we are placing a brief overview of some of the topics discussed at each month’s Board meeting in the Monthly newsletter. Here are some topicsfrom last month:

CARPET
The committee that had the job of picking new carpet for the clubhouse did an out- standing job! The committee was made up of several residents and several board members. The ceilings throughout the clubhouse were repaired and painted, along with all the trim throughout. The exit doors were also done on the inside, and they look great! The area rug in the foyer was sent out and cleaned and a pad added for safety and durability. The work certainly makes a difference! We are so proud!

WEBSITE

The Heritage in the Hills website is now updated and running. It contains information about the community and information just for residents. The residents site is only accessible with a username and password which will be delivered to each homeowner with the delivery of the March newsletter. This information MUST be held confidential by homeowners only. Updates will be monthly with the addition of the current newsletter. Now those leaving the community will have access to the monthly newsletter, Homeowner Directory and other information found pertinent.

SIGNS IN THE COMMUNITY
Private Property signs have been posted around the Phase I pond in an attempt to keep outside visitors off the property.

SOLICITORS/UNWELCOMED VISITORS OR UNUSUAL ACTIVITY
If you notice solicitors or unusual activity in the community, please don’t hesitate to call the Auburn Hills police to report the incident. The guards can not leave their post to investigate. It’s a good idea to notify the manager, but if she is unavailable, please contact the police direct. Let’s work together to keep our community safe!.
