Recognition To Our Residents: A
special thanks to all of those who helped “undress” the clubhouse from
it’s holiday splendor. Thanks to Chris DeGroot, Larry DeRonne, Sheri
Kennedy, Kay Kastran, Fritz and Mary Troff, Adrienne Malczewski, Jack & Jo
Kozlowski, Frank & Rosemary Caccamo, Flo Dorman, Peggy Gentile, Greg &
Kathy Mischley and Bette McCullough. All these hands made the job much
easier! Thank you so very much!
The Heritage Singles had a New Years Eve party and thanks was given last
month to those who hosted the party. However, special notice needs to be
given to Olga Sibo who made delicious desserts for this event. She went
over and above; and the presentation was outstanding. And they were oh so
good! Thanks Olga for all your hard work. You certainly made our party
memorable!
A heartfelt thanks to Tom Rapp and Cy DeMeulemeester for putting all the
furniture back into place after the Square/Line Dance. They came to
exercise and got more than they expected! Surely appreciate moving all
that heavy furniture! Thanks so much!
A very special thanks to resident Don Cassidy for all his dedication and
hard work to our exercise room at Heritage. Don has made some very good
changes and has
maintained a special eye for safety. Don studied the treadmill and gave a
workshop last month on the correct usage. He has implemented many changes
to improve our facility. A very warm thanks, Don, for your continuing
interest in making our exercise facility the best!

Ponderings From the Manager
Newspapers left out on your driveway or sidewalk present a problem for our
snow removal equipment. If the papers are covered by snow, it is
impossible to see them until it is too late and the paper is stuck in the
machine. Please be sure to pick up your newspapers in a timely manner. If
you are leaving the community, please remember to contact your carrier and
cancel the delivery while you are gone. If this isn’t possible, perhaps
contact a neighbor to pick it up for you while you are gone. This will be
greatly appreciated!
I’ve received several concerns in the office about phone calls that are
being received at your homes. Apparently there have been several calls
where the party has asked for checking account information. Please
remember never give this information out! Of course we have no control
over these phone calls. I know there is an insurance company that calls
residents on a regular basis and asks if they can drop a package of
information off for them and then state they will be in the community on a
specific day. Many of these companies we have come to recognize and no
longer allow in the community. I am sorry for the inconvenience and scare
this is causing; but my suggestion is that you just tell these solicitors
that you are not interested and hang-up. There is nothing I can do to stop
the phone calls. If you have a solicitor at your door; be sure to contact
the office immediately and we will ask them to leave and alert to them to
our “No Solicitation” policy.
I have been working with our website designer to update and change our
website. As of this printing, it is not completed but should be done by
mid-month. We will post the monthly newsletter on the website along with
the Resident Phone List which will be password protected. This password
will be announced to all residents. We ask that you NEVER release this
password to your friends and family. We wish to keep the Resident List for
Residents Only. If you have any suggestions for the website, share them
with me in the office.
As you have heard, new carpet will be installed at the clubhouse the week
of Feb. 13th. The clubhouse will be closed for resident use for the week
and all activities have been cancelled while this work is being done.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Most
activities have been rescheduled; but may be on a different day so be sure
to watch the calendar carefully this month. Please note the Board notes on
the back page and the new no pet policy in the clubhouse effective this
date. Won’t the new look be exciting? Be sure to come in and take a look
beginning Feb. 20th!

- SPECIAL THANKS RECEIVED
The American Cancer Society has sent a very special thank you for the
beautiful handmade hats that were donated to them for their Chemo Kids
program. Our residents made 80 hats which were donated to their program.
The hats will be distributed at Children’s Hospital and Beaumont
Pediatrics to sick kids. A very warm thanks to all those that made and
donated hats. What a wonderful feeling to know we’ve made a difference
in the life of a child!
Another warm thanks came from Arden Courts in Sterling Heights and from
Crittenton Hospital, Pediatric Division, for the donation they received
of knitted Teddy Bears. At Arden Courts, the
Alzheimer patients are smiling while carrying their bears. At Crittenton,
they are distributed to sick kids that are seen. Both have stated how
great it is to have the support of the community in making other’s lives
lighter and better. A very special thanks to all the knitters to helped
make the 35 bears we’ve donated.
About 60 cotton washcloths were made by our stitchers. They were then
put in bags with a bar of soap. These were then sent to Clothes for
Katrina and were sent to shelters for those that suffered thru the
Katrina disaster. These efforts have not gone unnoticed! Emails are
received daily thanking us for our thoughtfulness. How wonderful we were
able to help so many! Thank you knitters.

HERITAGE COMFORT SHAWLS
You have all heard about the Heritage Stitchers Knitch members who have
been busy knitting or crocheting our Heritage Comfort Shawls. To date, we
have distributed sixteen shawls! These shawls are all handmade and
donated. They are presented to residents who need comfort from illness or
the loss of a loved one. If you knit or crochet and would like to help to
make these shawls, please contact the office as we could use your help! If
you would like to make a donation of yarn for this cause, each shawl takes
3 skeins of Homespun yarn which can be purchased at Michael’s or JoAnn
Fabrics. Donations of size 11 needles would also be appreciated. A
monetary donation will also be welcomed and we will purchase the yarn.
This is a very successful program and to continue it’s success; we need
your help! A very special thanks to all those who have participated in the
program by making these beautiful shawls!
Awesome job ladies!

The RED HAT Hot Honeys
HAPPENINGS
If you have any questions call either Janice Mosesso at 248-475-7850 or
Willie Swayze at 248-475-0012
Thanks to Willie Swayze and Rosemary Sharland for planning our January
outing. It was so nice to get together, laugh and relax after the
holidays. We enjoyed lunch and a movie. A special thank you for your
cleverness and hard work. Willie and Rosemary had a lovely surprise for
each of us. They had crocheted and felted little red hats to use as a pin
or a refrigerator magnet. Too cute!
We will not be having any type of outing in February. No one volunteered.
Come March Ann Moran and Claire Emmons are planning a luncheon and card
party at the clubhouse. There will be a flier available on the Red Hat
credenza come the middle of February. Mark the date, March 17th on your
calendar now.
Again we are still without a hostess or hostesses for the month of April.
If no one steps forward, we will not be having an activity in April. Also
we are missing
hostesses for June and December if anyone is interested.
We welcome new member Sylvia Imbrunnone.
In Friendship,
Janice Mosesso |

like the Bonhardts had last Spring! The city will come out to your home
and turn the water off outside so that there will be no water problems
inside the home. The cost for this service is $25. The city will come back
upon your return and turn it back on for the same cost. This peace of mind

(From the January, 2006 Board Meeting)
To increase communications about Board activities we are placing a brief
overview of some of the topics discussed at each month’s Board meeting in
the Monthly newsletter. Here are some topics from last month:
- Website: We are working on
having our website updated and hope it will be ready for use in
mid-February. The website will contain general information about
Heritage in the Hills, including new photos and our monthly newsletter.
The resident roster will also be on the site but will be password
protected and for the private use of residents only.
- Front Gates: The Board met with
Selectronics, Inc. and discussed the recent problems with the entry and
exit gates. Some improvements have already been completed and we are
currently getting quotes on installing new motors on the gates and
implementing an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the gates.
Also, look for new signs to be installed soon indicating only one
vehicle entry per gate opening.
- Financials: Preliminary numbers
are in for year-end and, as promised at the annual meeting, we met the
budget for 2005.
- New Carpeting: Our new carpet
is scheduled to be installed the second week in February (beginning
February 13th). All activities will be cancelled the week of
installation. With the installation of the new carpet, the Board felt
this would be a good time to institute a “No Pets” policy in the
clubhouse. Everyone’s cooperation will be appreciated.
- Street Lights: The Board has
been aware of the intermittent electrical problem with the street
lights. The problem area has been identified and digging has already
occurred to correct the problem. All street lights should now be in
working condition. Remember, if you have a light out in your
neighborhood, please be sure to alert the office.

DO YOU OWN A CELL PHONE? HAVE YOU HEARD
THE LATEST?
Beginning March 1st cell phones are
becoming open to solicitors! This means that you will get all those pesty
phone calls on your cell phone as well as your home phone; only now you
will be charged minutes to take those calls! There is a way to stop this
from happening! From your cell phone, call 888-382-1222 and request to
have those calls blocked. You don’t have to wait until March 1st, call
today! Remember you must use your cell phone to place this call. Do it
today! (Special Thanks to Barbara Shrem for This Information!)
